One company plans to prohibit employees from working through emails and text messages during weekends and holidays.Some people believe that by doing this, the company can reduce employees' dissatisfaction with the company, while others believe that by doing this, the company can not reduce employees' dissatisfaction with the company. What is your opinion and why?


破題思路


本文讓考生探討的是公司給出的一個新方案(不讓員工在周末或是假期時間通過郵件和消息忙工作的事情)是否能提高員工的滿意度。


滿意度不僅局限于工作環境,薪資水平這些在公司內部可見的因素,工作之外的休閑時間也很大程度上會影響人們的心情,從而影響工作時的心情,影響滿意度。


同意:

1、公司設身處地為員工想,讓員工可以毫無顧慮的休閑,從而員工可以體會到公司的關切,提高對公司的忠誠度。

2、不讓大家在假期工作,無形中就是要求了大家在有限的工作時間完成自己的任務,避免拖延癥。員工在工作中更有壓力和動力,同時公司的工作效率也得到了提升。


讓步:

當然,有少部分人是工作狂,愿意犧牲休息時間去工作。但是這些人畢竟很少,大部分人都有陪伴家人的需求。

With the emergence of smart phones, more and more work tasks begin to enter people's non-working life. Perhaps the most annoying thing for modern white-collar workers after work is dealing with work emails or answering work phone calls. A new plan that whether companies should forbid their staff to send emails or text messages off their working hours especially weekends and holidays is being considered. Although some may say this policy is useless since workers have already been accustomed to working overtime, I still strongly believe that the implementation of the new plan will no doubt largely contribute to the increased satisfaction of the employees as a whole. 


To begin with, taking employees’ actual needs after work into consideration, companies will definitely provide their employees with the sense of caring. Satisfaction does not relate to just the working settings, and salary levels within a company; other factors, such as the quality of vacation is just as crucial. Under the heavy workload, all the workers need relaxation time when they can spend time with their families and friends. On the contrary, when unwanted emails related to work stuff keep coming up during their recreation time, they may feel that their limited and precious holidays are distracted and thus get disappointed with their leaders or even the company. Therefore, once the company stops letting workers send work-related emails during holidays, they will show more loyalty and more commitment to the company.


In addition, requiring workers to accomplish tasks within working time will enhance the efficiency of the entire company. It is not hard to find that an increasing number of people now have procrastination towards work, since they are aware that if they cannot finish their tasks during workdays, they will continue to do it on weekends thanks to the advancement of Internet and portable devices. It goes without saying that the lack of deadline pressure will undeniably decrease the productivity. If companies prohibit workers from working through emails, employees are virtually required to complete their own tasks in the limited time period. Accordingly, people could fully enjoy their off-work time without thinking about work, and devote more time and energy to their work when getting back. Not only can the company raise the efficiency, but the workers can feel more motivated as well.


In fact, we humans are a kind of involuted animals with feelings, and everyone thinks differently. For a small proportion of young people who are extremely passionate about working, they may spend the majority of their time on work, and even prefer to work more at home during off-work time by sacrificing their spare time. However, a large portion of workers, including most of the young workers, share the same demand that is accompanying family members on holiday after all. 


To sum up, in a bid to let the workers be more satisfied with their work, companies should absolutely put the new plan into practice.
